Strength Training For Women – Part 2

The benefits of Strength Training:

  • Decrease body fat & increase muscle tone – so you can fit into those jeans or bikini you’ve always wanted to wear.
  • Increase Bone Density – Strong healthy bones decreases the chances of Osteoporosis
  • Increase stability in Joints – knees, back, elbows, ankles and shoulders
  • Strength training creates strong ligaments and tendons, which serve to support our joints and decrease the likelihood of injury from other activities. Strengthen the Ligaments & Tendons for more functional movements so you can Dance all night long!!
  • Muscle Flexibility – so you can do those splits that you’ve always wanted to do.
  • Last but not least Strength Training Helps with Blood circulation especially reducing cellulite in areas around your butt & thighs – YES PLEASE!

Strength training need not be complex or overly time consuming. It can fit easily into any woman’s lifestyle. Spring is here and you know what season comes next, that’s right SUMMER!

SO… Free weights (Dumbells, barbells etc), weight training machines or your own bodyweight will all enhance muscular strength, endurance & tone with as little as 20 minutes to one half hour a day of training. All major muscle groups need to be worked to avoid muscular and postural imbalances SO what are you going to do to prepare for this coming summer? STRENGTH TRAINING!

Undoubtedly, women of all shapes and sizes benefit from strength training. For the safest, most effective program, you should seek the advice of a certified fitness professional. Also, there are many books on the subject. I highly recommend “A Woman’s Book Of Strength”, by Karen Andes, for the most up-to-date, correct information for women.

As always, please get approval from your physician before starting any exercise regimen.
